Memphis Grizzlies: How Potential NBA Draft Targets Fared In The First Weekend Of The NCAA Tournament
By Chris Kern
De’Andre Hunter
De’Andre Hunter is a versatile prospect who hasn’t gotten the recognition he deserves. He has been projected to go in the lottery in many mock drafts, but he still doesn’t get the credit he deserves for how good he is.
Virginia is looking to win a national championship and Hunter is a big part of that. He has been productive to start off through their first two games. The Cavaliers struggled for stretches of their first two games and Hunter was a part of that, but he did have some very productive moments.
In the first game against Gardner-Webb, he led the way for them with a big performance finishing with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He showed off his full arsenal by going 9-16 from the field including a 2-6 mark from three-point range. His ability to score the ball from anywhere on the floor makes him very intriguing.
His second game didn’t go as well for him personally as he struggled for a large portion of the game against Oklahoma. He finished with 10 points and 3 rebounds on 4-9 shooting including 2-5 from three-point range.
His ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor makes him an interesting prospect. He might never be a star at the next level which is why he sometimes gets overlooked as a top prospect. Look for him to play much better next week as Virginia makes their push towards a Final Four.
