Memphis Grizzlies: How Potential NBA Draft Targets Fared In The First Weekend Of The NCAA Tournament
By Chris Kern
Zion Williamson
Zion Williamson is a freak of nature on the basketball court. He impacts the game in so many ways and that’s exactly what he has done through his first two NCAA Tournament games. He is the projected top pick for a reason and he has shown that all season long.
Williamson has had an absolutely amazing NCAA Tournament. In their first game against North Dakota State, he did struggle some early, but he still finished with 25 points and 3 rebounds. He can impact the game in so many ways and they don’t all show up on the stat sheet.
In their tight victory over UCF, he was on another level. He dominated the game on both ends in so many different ways. He was the focal point of the offense and he sure did deliver. UCF made it tough on him at times, but he stayed aggressive throughout as he finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists.
It took him 24 shots to get there, but they all were needed. It was difficult for Duke to score with Tacko Fall and the rest of the UCF defense making things tough. He did go 3-7 from three-point range which is about the only weakness in his game.
His ability to do things other college players can’t make him such a dominant NBA Draft prospect. He has been so good in his year at Duke and he has possibly already locked up being the top pick in the draft. We can expect some more amazing performances from him as long as the Blue Devils keep winning.
