Guard/Forward. Talen Horton-Tucker. player. 18. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Iowa State. 22

Talen Horton-Tucker is one of the most exciting prospects in this draft class. His ability to impact the game in so many ways is why he has risen up draft boards so high. He wasn’t looked at as a player who would be a one-and-done and now it seems as if he will become a first-round pick.

During his lone season at Iowa State, he averaged 11.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He gets it done on both ends of the floor largely due to being such a versatile player. His ability to create for both himself and others on the offensive end makes him better equipped for the NBA game than the college game. He will benefit from the extra spacing he will have on offense.

His length makes him dangerous on the defensive end as he has a 7’1″ wingspan which is extremely tough to go up against. He has the long wingspan needed on the defensive end, but he has shown that doesn’t limit his effectiveness on the offensive end. He is able to get to the basket against smaller guards, but one area he does need to improve in is his three-point shooting as he knocked down just  31% of his shots from deep.

His versatility makes him a perfect prospect for the Boston Celtics to select. They have many players on the wing such as Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, but they are expected to pursue Anthony Davis so maybe they would be okay with trading those guys if they trust Horton-Tucker to fill that role.
