NBA Draft 2019: Mock Draft 1.0
By Chris Kern
PJ Washington had a dominant sophomore season at Kentucky. The majority of the time when players return to school after expecting to be a one-and-done it doesn’t work out, but he certainly will benefit from his extra season in college.
He became a dominant force on the offensive end as very few college players were able to defend him inside. One area he improved in was his three-point shooting as he knocked down 42% of his shots from beyond the arc. That was on just 2.2 shots per game, but the improvement he made in that area was massive and he certainly will be drafted much higher because of it.
During his sophomore season, he averaged 15.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. Last season he was a key player, but this year he was the focal point of the offense and he certainly took advantage of the opportunity.
The Boston Celtics have a lot of quality players so getting minutes will be tough, but he has the size and strength to find a role in the NBA. If the Celtics do keep this pick, Washington could be a nice player to add to an already very deep roster.
