NBA Draft 2019: Mock Draft 1.0
By Chris Kern
KZ Okpala is an exciting prospect who had a very good sophomore season. He is an exciting prospect that not that many people know about. He has an extremely long wingspan which should make him be a good fit in most NBA defenses.
Some areas of his game still need work, but all of the players coming into the league these days do so no need to overreact about some of those. His three-point shooting was a concern coming into the season, but he made big strides by improving his three-point shooting up to 38% after shooting just 23% his freshman year.
If he’s able to make that big of an improvement in just one year then he could become a very good three-point shooter at the next level. It may require some time in the G-League, but he will have a lot of success in the NBA if he continues to make strides offensively.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a lot of questions on the wing. They have Paul George there, but other than that they have a lot of inconsistency. Terrance Ferguson has stepped up, but his ceiling isn’t nearly as high as Okpala’s. With Andre Roberson‘s health being a concern going forward, I would be shocked if they didn’t draft a wing in this year’s draft.
