NBA Draft 2019: Mock Draft 1.0
By Chris Kern
Darius Garland to the Memphis Grizzlies is something a lot of fans would like. He did suffer a season-ending knee injury early on in the season, but he did show how good he is in just a few games that he played in.
He played in just five games at Vanderbilt, but he was very good in those games. They went 4-0 in the games he started and finished which included quality wins over USC and Liberty. He averaged 16.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in the five games. One of the games he played just a few minutes so they would be even higher if not for that.
If the Grizzlies are going to draft Garland a lot will have to do with their plans to trade Mike Conley. They have made it known they will consider it, but they have been playing much better basketball to end the season so maybe they will consider keeping him as well.
Garland getting drafted this high despite the injury may surprise some people, but many still view him as the second best point guard behind Ja Morant. His ability to impact the game is for real and he has the potential to become a star in this league. Pairing him with Jaren Jackson Jr. would be a big success for the Grizzlies.
