NBA Draft 2019: Mock Draft 1.0
By Chris Kern
Ja Morant is an exciting prospect who would be considered for the top pick in almost any other draft. He has had an amazing season at Murray State which has led to him rising all the way up to two in many mock drafts.
He does it all for Murray State as he has nearly single-handedly carried them into the NCAA Tournament. They do have some quality players alongside him, but he does so much for this team and it reminds many scouts of a young Russell Westbrook.
He took his game to another level during his sophomore season as he was asked to lead the team unlike during his freshman season. He averaged 24.5 points, 10 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. The talent he has is crazy and very few prospects have it.
His ability to impact the game in so many ways on the offensive end makes him a player who can be a superstar in the NBA. He is an elite passer and will be one of the best passers in the game from day one. His three-point shooting is a bit of a concern, but he showed against Florida State in the NCAA Tournament that he has the confidence to pull up from deep as well.
The Phoenix Suns are a mess right now. They have good young talent with Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton, but they haven’t been able to win games and a lot of that has to do with their point guard struggles. Morant would shore up that issue and give them another young superstar to build around.
