NBA Draft 2019: Mock Draft 1.0
By Chris Kern
Naz Reid is a very talented center who dominated the college game. During his freshman season at LSU, he averaged 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. His ability to score the ball from everywhere on the floor is one way that the Portland Trail Blazers will benefit from.
He shot 33% from three-point range this season which is very good for a center in this league. Many bigs in today’s game shoot better than that, but for him to come into the league shooting like that he should be very confident in his ability to improve in that area as his career goes along.
Reid is a very talented big man who could provide matchup problems with the second unit. With the recent injury to Jusuf Nurkic who knows how he will recover so maybe they will need another center to start the season. That’s why I feel they may target a center in the draft and if Naz Reid drops this far then they certainly should make this selection.
He does have some weaknesses he needs to work on, but he has shown he has all the tools required to be successful at the next level. If he can come in and play hard and find a role then he will have an impact right away, with a chance to become a key player in the future.
