93. St. John's. Shamorie Ponds. 24. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Guard

Shamorie Ponds is an exciting player who can make an impact on both ends of the floor. He is most known for his offensive game, but he has also shown he can get it done on the defensive end. He does a good job forcing turnovers on the defensive end while limiting his own turnovers on offense.

The Philadelphia 76ers have shown their willingness to draft players who have a lot of potential and after Markelle Fultz didn’t pan out they may be willing to draft another guard in the draft. They need guys who can help off the bench and Ponds will be able to do so right away.

During his three seasons at St.John’s he continued to improve as the season went along. This past season he shifted his focus to helping the team win, rather than trying to put up big numbers. He averaged 19.7 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game during his junior season. He also improved his three-point percentage to 35% after shooting just 25% the year prior.

His ability to run an offense has been on full display during his college career. Most mock drafts don’t have him this high, but he has shown his talent on many occasions. He may not get this high, but expect him to rise up draft boards as we get closer to the NBA Draft.
