The Memphis Grizzlies acquired C.J. Miles at the deadline and he made an impact in a short time. He has made it known he plans on opting into his player option for next season.

The Memphis Grizzlies had an eventful NBA Trade Deadline and one of their acquisitions was C.J. Miles. He was acquired in the trade that sent Marc Gasol to Toronto. After playing in just 13 games with the Grizzlies he felt comfortable enough that he wants to stick around for another season. Money is a big part of that, but he wouldn’t be so sure if he didn’t enjoy his time here.

During those 13 games, he played well and he looks like a good piece that can be utilized on a winning team next season. He averaged 9.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game as he was able to play in a much larger role than he did in Toronto.

This is going to be an offseason full of change, but Miles getting his player option out of the way early is a good thing. That is a large number to pay for a rotation wing, but he fits really well in the Grizzlies new offense and should be a key piece going forward.

We have many other players who have decisions make such as Jonas Valanciunas‘ player option, and Justin Holiday‘s free agency. With how those guys played down the stretch it’s possible they return as well, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it unfolds.

Mike Conley is the main piece that could be moved this offseason. He was rumored as a possibility to be traded during the season and they’re expected to revisit some of those possibilities once again.

No matter who’s on the team next season we can expect a faster paced team that is better offensively. C.J. Miles will help with that since he is expected to pick up his player option. He will provide depth on the wing, especially when the inevitable injuries occur.
