JaMychal Green

JaMychal Green was a very productive player for the Grizzlies over the past few seasons. He has been a starter for a lot of games, but he also has excelled in a backup role behind guys such as Zach Randolph and Jaren Jackson Jr.

This season he started off as the starting power forward, but after breaking his jaw early on in the season and he was unable to reclaim a starting role. He still had some big moments this season though which led to the Clippers being so interested in him.

He was a part of the deal that brought Avery Bradley to Memphis in exchange for Green and Temple. It was a puzzling move in a lot of ways, but Bradley is a player the Grizzlies have coveted for years and they were able to get him. Who knows if he will be on the team next season, but he still did make an impact in his short time with the team.

The Clippers were able to acquire two solid rotation players who fit into their style who will help them in the playoffs. When they go up against Golden State they will need to utilize their depth to their advantage as that’s the area that they are better than the Warriors in.

JaMychal Green has been more of a three-point shooter since joining the Clippers. He would knock them down with the Grizzlies, but it has been more of a focus for him now. Similarly to the way it was for Temple he had a little bit larger role in Memphis largely due to the depth that the Clippers have.

In 41 games with the Grizzlies this season he averaged 9.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game on 48% shooting including 40% from three-point range in 22 minutes. He has played in 24 games with the Clippers averaging 8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on 48% shooting from the field including 41% from three-point range.

Those numbers are very similar which just shows how reliable he can be every night. The big difference between the two is that he is averaging one more three-pointer per game with the Clippers than he was with the Grizzlies.

Green will need to come to play in this series as they need everybody to step up if they want a chance to win. They have to match up with Draymond Green and Demarcus Cousins inside so they’ll need him to help with that each game.
