Coby White

Coby White is an exciting guard prospect who seems to be a guy who can play both on, and off of the ball. He came into his freshman season not expecting to be a one-and-done, but now he seems to be locked into being a lottery pick in this draft.

His emergence was a big reason that North Carolina was able to secure a one seed in the NCAA Tournament. He really complimented their seniors, Luke Maye, and Cameron Johnson really well offensively.

The Tar Heels were supposed to have a top 10 pick on their team, but it was supposed to be Nassir Little, not Coby White. Little still has a chance to go in the top 10, but he had a disappointing season. He could be another target for Memphis here, but he seems like he could possibly drop out of the lottery.

White was very productive during this past season as he averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. He shot the ball pretty efficiently as well making 42% of his shots including 35% from three-point range. If he can keep those percentages at the next level then he is going to make an impact right away.

White has really good size at 6’5″ and 185 Lbs which is something we are seeing from more and more point guards in the NBA today. His wingspan is only 6’4″ which isn’t ideal, but he is still a fine option to play both the point guard and shooting guard spots.

He is a proven scorer, but he also showed at North Carolina that he can run an offense as well. That versatility would serve him well in Memphis as they look to move forward potentially without Mike Conley.
