Memphis Grizzlies: 5 Potential Landing Spots For Mike Conley
By Chris Kern
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have had an amazing season finishing second in the Western Conference, but they do seem to lack a guard they can trust down the stretch of games. They have an amazing young core so there’s no reason for them to rush the process by making this trade, but it is something they could at least consider.
Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in the NBA today as he does so much for this Nuggets team, but how far can a team so reliant on their center go in the playoffs. They also don’t have a lot of playoff experience outside of Paul Millsap who might be on his way out of Denver this summer.
The only way they would consider trading for Mike Conley is if they feel he can play alongside Jamal Murray. Murray is one of the bright young talents in the game who has had a great season and looks to be on his way towards becoming an all-star one day. The featured player in a potential deal would likely be Gary Harris.

Harris would be a great addition for Memphis and would solidify that shooting guard spot which has been an issue for them over the past few seasons. This would be a no brainer for Memphis if they’re able to get a guy like Harris, but it’s much more difficult envisioning Denver wanting to do this deal.
They could make this work money wise somewhat easily. The Nuggets have plenty of guys with big salaries that I’m sure they would be willing to include in a deal such as Mason Plumlee and Will Barton.
This would be a big risk for Denver to make, but sometimes that’s what it takes to win a championship. If Kevin Durant re-signs with the Warriors could that put more pressure on the Nuggets to make a big deal like this to try and compete with them? It could at least force them to consider what a deal like this would require to get done.
The Nuggets are a very good team so for them to even considering a deal is very unlikely, but sometimes teams we don’t think of come in and make a big offer to secure a star player. The Raptors trading for Kawhi Leonard was very surprising and risky just as this trade would be for Denver. It’s unlikely to happen, but don’t be shocked if rumors start up, especially if the Nuggets lose this opening round series against San Antonio.
