Memphis Grizzlies: 5 Of The Top Head Coach Candidates Available
By Chris Kern
Mark Jackson
Mark Jackson was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors for three years from 2011-14, but that was before they were the unbeatable force that they are today. He gets a lot of blame since they took it to another level after he left, but they just weren’t the same players during his time there.
They were younger and less experienced and while he may have something to do with the struggles they had, he certainly wasn’t a bad coach. Steve Kerr has been an amazing fit with the offense they have, but when the team’s that talented and unselfish it’s much easier to come up with successful gameplans.

During Jackson’s time with the Warriors, he finished with a record of 121-109 and even made the playoffs twice including a series win in the 2013 playoffs over the Denver Nuggets. They would lose in the first round against the Clippers the following season and that would lead to his dismissal.
It’s still uncertain whether he would want back into coaching as he really enjoys his current job as an NBA analyst for ESPN. He left the broadcast booth to coach once so maybe he would consider doing it once again.
Jackson has been rumored to the Lakers opening, but there doesn’t seem to be much traction there as they seem set on hiring either Tyronn Lue or Monty Williams. If the Grizzlies can get Mark Jackson they absolutely need to do it.
Sure people can question how he developed the young guys in Golden State, but they need stability at the head coaching spot in Memphis. He would come in and be a good coach and potentially be the coach for the next decade or so. If they don’t think that’s him then don’t hire him, but all five of these candidates coach potentially be the Grizzlies coach for the next decade, if given a chance.
