By Chris Kern
The Memphis Grizzlies season didn’t go as planned. They tried to make a playoff run, but at the end of the day it didn’t work out. Here are five moments that define their 2018-19 season.
The Memphis Grizzlies came into this season expecting to compete for the playoffs. They picked up some key pieces in Kyle Anderson, Garrett Temple, and Jaren Jackson Jr. and they felt those guys would be enough to help them get into the postseason.
The first quarter of the season displayed that as they played at a very high level, especially on the defensive end of the floor. They were even on top of the western conference at one point when they had a 12-5 record. After that point, they really struggled though as the season went downhill quickly.
The Grizzlies dealt with many injuries throughout the season which led to them having to play 28 different players which tied their own league record from the 2015-16 season. Going through all those injuries are tough in their own right, but they also experienced a lot of drama in other ways.
This is a team that changed its identity as the season went along. After big changes at the trade deadline, they started to play much faster and the offense was greatly improved. They had a lot of new faces and they emphasized their offense game, without getting rid of their defensive identity.
The Grizzlies had many different moments that will be remembered from this season both good and bad. Here are five of the moments that were most memorable, and that defined their 2018-19 season.
