Memphis Grizzlies: Jaren Jackson Jr. Shows Off Superstar Potential During His Rookie Season

Jaren Jackson Jr. has some threats that could limit his production, but the majority of it has to do with himself. If he comes out and plays hard then there’s nobody that can shut him down on either side of the floor.

If Jonas Valanciunas is in Memphis long-term it could limit some of his effectiveness in the low post on offense since he would be such a focus down there. That would be something the Grizzlies would like to have, but with Valanciunas on board, there wouldn’t be the need to run everything through Jackson.

Depending what the Grizzlies do with their first-round draft pick it could have an effect on Jackson’s game. There are some prospects such as DeAndre Hunter and Rui Hachimura who are best slotted in as power forwards in the NBA.

They wouldn’t take many minutes from him if any, but it could change some of the plans on how they would like to utilize him. The Grizzlies should be confident in his abilities no matter how they use him.

His lack of strength might be his biggest threat currently. He needs to get stronger and show he can battle amongst the top big men in the game. That is something many young players need to do though so that shouldn’t be a big concern going forward as long as he starts to make progress next season.

Jaren Jackson Jr. is a very talented player who is on his way to stardom in the NBA. His ability to impact the game in so many ways is something not many players at his age can do. It’s going to be very exciting seeing him develop his game during his time in Memphis.
