Memphis Grizzlies: Ranking NBA Playoff Runs During The Mike Conley, Marc Gasol Era
By Chris Kern
The Memphis Grizzlies have missed the playoffs the past two seasons after making it for seven straight years during the Mike Conley, Marc Gasol era. Here’s a look back at those seven postseason runs.
With Marc Gasol playing in the playoffs for the Toronto Raptors and Mike Conley likely on his way out of town we take a look back at the Memphis Grizzlies recent playoff runs. They had a stretch of seven consecutive years in the playoffs which included many marquee matchups against teams such as the Spurs and Clippers.
They were never able to win an NBA championship or even win the western conference, but it was still a very exciting time to see them playing meaningful games in the playoffs. Some of the years they fell just short of deep runs due to going 0-3 in game seven’s.
While the Grizzlies haven’t made the playoffs the past two seasons and haven’t won a series since 2015 it may be a while until they get back. They just finally seem to be turning the page on this chapter of Grizzlies basketball and they now seem ready to embrace the future of this franchise.
The team has been starting the rebuild the past two seasons, but now is when it really gets underway. They have found themselves a young superstar in Jaren Jackson Jr. as well as other quality players in Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks. If they can continue to make progress in their rebuild they could get a chance to get back to the postseason within a couple of seasons or maybe even sooner.
With the Grizzlies not being in the playoffs, it’s a good time to look back at their previous postseason appearances. Here are the seven straight playoff appearances from 2011-2017 ranked.
