2012

The Grizzlies 2012 playoff run ended in the opening round with a series loss against the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games. This was one of the moments that was a big part of the rivalry between these two teams, which has almost completely come to an end.

This was a series with some great defensive battles that often went down the wire. Three of the seven games were within two points and all seven were competitive with the Grizzlies 92-80 win in game five being the largest of the series.

The game one in this series wasn’t a good one for the Grizzlies. They lost at home 98-99 after blowing a 27 point lead which included being outscored 13-35 in the fourth quarter. That was the biggest playoff collapse up until the Warriors blew a 31 point lead at home just a couple of weeks ago against the Clippers.

The Grizzlies fell behind 3-1 in this series, but they were able to win the next two to force a game seven back at home. In game six they were able to pick up a big road win 90-88 behind their dominant frontcourt duo in Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. They combined for 41 points, 25 rebounds, and 4 blocks to get the Grizzlies this win.

Memphis had high hopes for the 2012 playoffs after falling a game shy of the conference finals a game prior, but they were unable to get the job done. It was a fun series against the Clippers, but they would eventually fall in game seven, 72-82 after an abysmal offensive performance.
