Memphis Grizzlies: 5 Candidates Who Should Represent the Franchise at the NBA Draft Lottery
Tayshaun Prince, Memphis Grizzlies’ Vice President of Basketball Affairs
In some of the most recent news surrounding the Memphis Grizzlies’ front office shakeup, Tayshaun Prince has received a promotion and will now have increased involvement and responsibility, especially within the topic of player development.
It was excellent news because Prince is a strong basketball mind and players really connect with guys who compiled strong playing careers. It is even better considering Tayshaun is an NBA World Champion himself, and nearly the entire current Grizzlies roster grew up watching Prince as a member of the Detroit Pistons. Memphis was able to keep him within the organization before he could get recruited by another NBA franchise, such as the Pistons.
Memphis is all-in when it comes to player development now. They have brought in some excellent resources in order to mold their youth into valuable contributors at each position. This goes to show how bad player development had been in the past; therefore, the Grizzlies are doing all they can to ensure their young players are prepared for expanded roles in the coming seasons of a full-on rebuild.
It would make perfect sense to have Tayshaun Prince represent the Memphis Grizzlies at the May 14th NBA Draft Lottery. A lot of teams have sent former players or front office members for representation over the years, and with Prince, it is the best of both worlds. He is a former member of the Grizzlies, plus this upcoming event could be the beginning of a journey in which a young rookie is taking underneath Tayshaun’s wing for guidance. Why not make the most of this promotion right away?
