Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 26. player. Guard/Forward. Iowa State. Talen Horton-Tucker. 156

Talen Horton-Tucker is one of the most exciting prospects in this draft class. His ability to impact the game in so many ways is why he has risen up draft boards. He wasn’t looked at as a player who would be a one-and-done and now it seems as if he will become a first-round pick.

During his lone season at Iowa State, he averaged 11.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He gets it done on both ends of the floor largely due to being such a versatile player. His ability to create for both himself and others on the offensive end makes him better equipped for the NBA game than the college game. He also will benefit from the extra spacing he will have on offense.

His length makes him dangerous on the defensive end with his 7’1″ wingspan which is extremely tough to go up against. He has the long wingspan needed on the defensive end, but he has shown that doesn’t limit his effectiveness on the offensive end. He is able to get to the basket against smaller guards, but one area he does need to improve in is his three-point shooting as he knocked down just 31% of his shots from deep.

The Cavs got this pick from the Rockets after they were willing to take back Brandon Knight‘s contract. Bringing in Horton-Tucker gives them an exciting prospect to add to the mix as they look to build this team back to playoff contention.
