Memphis Grizzlies Rumors: Multiple Teams Reportedly Interested In Trading For Mike Conley

Now we get into a team that has considered acquiring Mike Conley before, but it seems as if they haven’t ever put together a package to make a deal. They’re building a young core to go forward with for the future around their young stars, Luka Doncic, and Kristaps Porzingis, but they could still benefit from adding a star veteran point guard.

Some will question the fit since Doncic is the guy running the offense, but similar to Mitchell running the offense in Utah Conley is more than capable of playing off the ball alongside Doncic. They have a lot of cap space to make moves this offseason, but they have to fill out their roster as well as sign Porzingis to a long-term deal so they likely would still want to unload some salary in a potential trade.

One of the top targets who could be included is Tim Hardaway Jr. who has 2 years, $37 million left on his deal with the second year being a player option he would most likely accept. The Grizzlies would want pick(s) and a young player as well, but bringing in Hardaway Jr. to put alongside Ja Morant would be a big-time addition.

The Mavericks are set to go forward with Doncic and Porzingis for the long haul and they want to start competing for the playoffs right away. Conley has said he wants to start competing for championships and if Porzingis and Conley both stay healthy there’s no reason that they can’t do that while they’re still together playing at a high level.

Dallas also has some young players such as Jalen Brunson and Justin Jackson, but they don’t have a lot of pieces to use as trade bait and they don’t even have many players currently under contract for them to put around Doncic and Porzingis for the future. The Mavericks have two young stars and if they build this right they have a chance to be very good for a long time.

The Grizzlies will have plenty of suitors for Mike Conley this summer. If they get good offers they certainly should trade him for the best haul in return. They’re looking to add as much young talent to go forward with in the future and trading Conley is a great way to do just that. He likely has played his final game in a Grizzlies uniform.
