player. 110. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Guard. USC. Kevin Porter Jr. 13

Dwyane Wade made his mark on the city of Miami, but a new squad looks to continue what he started.

Wade’s retirement was not the end of the Miami Heat franchise. There is still a lot of great, versatile players that fill the current roster. Many of these players are starting to make a name for themselves, which is great. But it is going to take some time for the team to fully recover and become playoff contenders once again. This is going to take time, and is going to take building from within. That is why the Heat should select Kevin Porter Jr with their No. 13 pick.

Porter Jr. suffered an injury in the past that stunted his college career, but he is young. At 19 years old, Porter Jr. is exactly what the Heat need. He is a high IQ shooting guard that could be developed into Miami’s next star.

While with USC, Porter Jr. averaged 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. These may not be impressive stats to most, but considering this is one season, off the bench, after an injury, these numbers speak a lot. His rotation into the current roster would provide relief for Dion Waiters, which would help Porter Jr. grow. Is he a starter his rookie year or even a Rookie of the Year candidate? Probably not. But does he have the ability to lead this team in the next few years? Absolutely.
