R.J. Barrett. 27. Pick Analysis. Forward. Duke. Scouting Report. 3. player

Some say second-in-command to Zion Williamson at Duke, but for the New York Knicks, this could be their chance to see themselves back in the win column. With head coach David Fizdale going into his second year, fans are expecting something great. His greatest could stem from Duke’s R.J. Barrett.

Over the years, the Knicks have been building a solid team, especially with the acquisition of Dennis Smith Jr. at the NBA Trade Deadline. This combination of players, mixed with a versatile two-way player like Barrett, could be the opportunity to rise. In his freshman year at Duke, Barrett averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. These numbers would make a huge difference on the court. His young customizability with the right players and right coach would only make him a more integral part of the team’s offense as well as their defense.

Barrett, along with Zion, led Duke deep within the NCAA Tournament. Some of his awards speak for the player he is. Barrett is a: consensus First-Team All-American, Jerry West Award recipient, First-Team All-ACC, McDonald’s All-American player, and Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2018. These are just a few of his collegiate awards. Though he is a college standout, he also has achievements nationally. With Canada, he is a gold and silver medalist in multiple FIBA games.

His game is great, but it is still in development. New York is the best team for his skill set as well as for the team as a whole.
