NBA Draft: 4 Prospects Who Should Be Memphis Grizzlies’ Priority at No. 23
Romeo Langford
If the Memphis Grizzlies decide to go with an addition at the shooting guard position, they should absolutely consider Romeo Langford. He has the tools to become above-average on the defensive end, plus he is entering the NBA with an underappreciated offensive arsenal.
Langford has a strength of driving through traffic to draw fouls and/or score at the rim, and once he is fully healed from a torn ligament in his shooting hand, there should be no worries for him regaining his outside shooting touch, which earned him such high national favor coming out of high school in New Albany, Indiana.
For his overall game, Langford is smooth and calm. He fits in where Mike Conley left off in being a quiet, yet effective leader. Plus, Romeo is highly effective, tallying a 19.9 Player Efficiency Rating (PER) as a collegiate freshman at Indiana.
He is just 19 years of age and the Grizzlies would still be able to mold this shooting guard prospect into the type of player they need. He could be more of a defensive player that would still command defenders to be drawn onto him on offense, or he could be an offensive beast with an underrated defensive game.
