Admiral Schofield

Though Admiral Schofield is expected by many to slide into the early portion of the second round, there is one very interesting tidbit to consider regarding the Memphis Grizzlies. Just over one year ago, Schofield was brought in for a pre-Draft workout in Memphis. Shortly after receiving feedback, he headed back to Tennessee to complete his collegiate career. It is important to note the Grizzlies’ prior interest, and even though they have restructed their Front Office, interest in Schofield could very well remain in 2019.

Today, the selection of Schofield makes even more sense. At No. 23, he is one of the most NBA-ready talents among the bunch. He is strong and has a variety of skills in which the Grizzlies definitely need heading into the 2018-19 NBA season. For instance, he shot an impressive 41.8% shooting from three-point land, making 74 triples in total as a collegiate senior. He also averaged 6.1 rebounds per game as a 6’6″ wing. These are traits in which Memphis desperately needs in improving upon their overall performance from 2018-19.

On top of it all, though the Memphis verssus Tennessee rivalry is very real, a pick of Schofield would keep him in-state. It would be nostalgic for a small portion of Grizz Nation. Locals would have some familiarity with Admiral, and rivalry aside, you have to admit that he will be a contributor in the NBA regardless of where he lands. At No. 23, it is solid first-round value.
