Memphis Grizzlies: 3 Under-the-Radar Players to Pursue in NBA Free Agency
Reggie Bullock
In line with the outside shooting remedy, do not be surprised if the Memphis Grizzlies pop up in rumors surrounding free agent shooting guard/small forward Reggie Bullock. Bullock was traded midseason in 2018-19 to become a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, but unfortunately for L.A., other teams have taken notice of his hot shooting and consistent scoring capabilities.

As Bullock’s minutes continue to raise, so does his production within all other statistical categories. Split between the Lakers and Detroit Pistons this past season, he boasted averages of 11.3 points on 41.2% shooting (including 37.7% from long-range) to go with 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 29.8 minutes per game.
As previously mentioned, the Grizzlies need to address their three-point shooting woes in a major way. Bullock could assist without a doubt as he made 148 triples in 2018-19. Among the Grizzlies’ entire roster from this past season, this mark places him just seven triples shy of tying Mike Conley‘s three-point season contribution. The kicker? Conley averaged 3.7 more minutes per game, played in seven more games, and shot 33 more three-point attempts than Bullock.
Reggie is a player that remains ready until called upon. It took him until his fifth season in the NBA to really take off, and now he finished the most current season by starting 60 of the 63 games he appeared in. After leaving Detroit, Bullock’s performance has been confirmation that he has always had consistent scoring talent, he just needed to be handed consistent minutes along with a consistent role.
If there is one position on the Grizzlies’ roster that is up for grabs, it is most definitely at shooting guard. This should be enticing to Bullock, who is just entering his prime years at the age of 28. This may be the best value for Memphis in using the Mid-Level Exception, which will be valued in the $5 million range. Above all else, it is time to gain some stability at shooting guard along with putting the outside shooting woes to rest.
