2. The Portland Trailblazers

The Trailblazers are a team on a mission. Portland saw the success Golden State had with two flamethrowing guards and switchability on the defensive end. They have been trying to put their own spin on it for years now. Andre Iguodala would be another step in that direction.

They already attempted to deploy Al-Farouq Aminu in this role however, it didn’t always work as well as the Trailblazers anticipated. With Portland recently losing Al-Farouq Aminu in free agency it may be a good idea for Portland to get the real deal. Iguodala would provide the Portland Trailblazers with a defense first wing who doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective, which is important as Portland’s offense is strictly based around Lillard and McCollum. Iguodala has also proven in recent seasons that he can hit the 3 ball consistently off the catch, especially in the corners, which is another valuable skill Portland can take advantage of, since defenders cant sag off him on Lillard or McCollum drives to the basket.

It should be a make or break season in Portland. It looks more and more likely that a trip to the Western Conference Finals may be the only thing that keeps this core, and Head Coach Terry Scott’s job, in Portland. Adding Iguodala to a team that recently added Hassan Whiteside could offer a chance for Portland to finally reach the NBA finals.
