The Memphis Grizzlies are entering a new era along with this new season. Here are five big questions they should address during the NBA preseason, for a strong start to their rebuild.

With new beginnings usually come lots of questions. It’s certainly the case for the Memphis Grizzlies, whose re-building roster was almost entirely flipped over the offseason.

Memphis returns just six rotation players from last season. Of those six, Jaren Jackson Jr logged the most games in a Grizzlies uniform, with a paltry 58. The rest spent the bulk of the season injured, or playing for other teams.

Put more bluntly, most of this roster has never played together. On a young team with many new, ill-fitting, and temporary, parts, there will be lots to figure out.

Memphis won’t have to rush things. They’re going to be pretty bad this season, and – unlike last year – aren’t blindly believing otherwise. They’ll likely look to bottom out, securing another high lottery pick. Then, they can use their growing talent and heaps of cap room to leap in 2020-21, hopefully conveying a non-lottery pick, owed to the Boston Celtics.

Even if the endgame of the rebuild’s first phase is almost two years away, the next two weeks will be an important foundation to the Memphis Grizzlies’ evolution. Here are five big questions for them to answer during the preseason:
