The NBA season is around the corner and the Memphis Grizzlies fans have much to look forward to in the 2019-20 campaign, thanks to a young unicorn and a passing savant. But where does the Morant & JJJ pair rank among some of the most hyped-up young duos in the Western Conference?

What a difference two years can make…In the 2017-18 season, the Grizzlies roster lacked young prospects the fans could feel excited about. On the contrary, the spectre of a prolonged and agonizing rebuild, like that the Sixers went through, loomed over the franchise. However, they selected one of the most NBA ready prospects in the 2018 draft in Jaren Jackson Jr. and felt confident enough to finally disband the Conley – Gasol pairing. This offseason, the luck was on their side on lottery night and they once again landed a transcendent talent in Ja Morant. Considering that many franchises spend years trying to build through the draft, it is an incredible achievement that the Memphis Grizzlies have found their future stars just two years into their rebuild.

However, the Grizzlies are not the only franchise in the West Conference who get to boast a stellar duo. In fact, many view the Mavericks, Pelicans and Kings as playoff hopefuls coming into the 2019-20. All three of these teams have one thing in common with the Grizzlies: a young playmaking point guard and a talented big man. But who is better? Let’s dive in.
