The Memphis Grizzlies have had a season already filled with highs and lows, but what are the most important storylines through the first 12 games.

The NBA season is now in full-swing, and teams are now starting to establish a rhythm. The Memphis Grizzlies are in the first season of their rebuild, and have had a slow start, as expected. The team has established a scrappy identity, but it hasn’t led to many wins yet. They currently hold a 5-7 record.

Most preseason projections correctly predicted how the Grizzlies would look: a young, athletic, scrappy team that would struggle to win games, but still manage to compete every night. Behind one of the league’s better young cores, the team has shown some flashes of limitless potential. That said, fans shouldn’t expect to win a lot of games this season.

Ten games is a decent sample size to observe trends for teams. While there are certainly some outliers, most teams have established themselves and shown what they’re going to be. The Grizzlies are still working out some kinks, but this team has proven to be in a good place for the future.

While it’s still early in the rebuilding process, the Grizzlies have multiple pieces in place now that should be around for a long time. The team has at least part of its core for the future. Taking that into consideration, let’s take a look at some early storylines to watch as the season progresses.
