4. New York Knicks

Ok, ok, just being honest here, I can’t really see this one happening. Still, James Dolan loves having a star on the team (hell, he sold his entire team away just to get one star who decided not to come!) and Iguodala would undoubtedly be the biggest name on the team. Really, there are two reasons to believe that a trade might happen: 1.) First round picks 2.) Spite.

On the first reason, we already know that Memphis is in the hunt for more first round picks in exchange for Iguodala, and if you’re going to get picks, it’s always better to get one from a tanking team than it is to get one from a contender. The Knicks are one of a few teams projected to get the #1 overall pick for next year’s draft (thus securing the rights to RJ Hampton presumably) and the Grizzlies are drooling over that spot.

Along with that is spite. Memphis could find themselves upset about how the 36 year old star treated them and talked about them in the offseason, and you add in the fact that he’s charging them $17 million NOT to play, and the case for Memphis sending him to a winless situation becomes more clear.
