2. Philadelphia 76ers
The starting point for Iguodala’s career could also be where he sees its twilight play out.
Iguodala wants to play for a contender, and for the first time in a long time, the Philadelphia 76ers have morphed themselves into just that. A perennial Finals favorite, the 76ers could lure Iguodala back with the promise of a starting role, as well as one last show at another Finals ring. Not to mention the LeBron comparisons of a guy who left the team that drafted him, went to get some skills he never would’ve gotten on that team, and then came back to win a Finals. It’s a pretty enticing offer to any veteran.
The 76ers could offer the Grizzlies a package of Mike Scott and Josh Richardson, plus an unprotected 2021 first round pick, in exchange for the two-way star. Richardson would be the hardest piece of that package to part with, however he’s not providing the output that a team paying him $10 million would hope for.
Send him to a tanking franchise for a defensive stopper, and you become the odds on favorite in the East, as well as giving yourself a piece to knock out one of the Western Conference powerhouses and become the team to bring back-to-back championships to the Eastern Conference since the Miami Heat won back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013.
