LA Clippers at Los Angeles Lakers: Los Angeles Lakers

The Andre Iguodala situation has grown into a headache for the Grizzlies, and at times it doesn’t seem to have a real ending in sight.

We brought him on to be a mentor, turns out he didn’t want that, we wanted him to show up at training camp, he disagreed, we relented, and now he’s being paid $17 million to sit on the bench.

One reason that Memphis is finding it so hard to trade Iguodala is because he wants to go to a contender, so that he’ll have the chance to win one more ring before he retires. But Memphis would like a first round pick for Iggy, which is hard to take from a contender because it’s value is significantly diminished.

In the end, Memphis will almost certainly have to relent to Iguodala, much like they have through the year. This would mean sending him to a contender without much of a package coming back, and right now, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to be the place he wants to go most. A win over the intracity rival Clippers would make their stock much more appealing in Iggy’s eyes, and might lead to an end to this awful saga.
