Game Preview: Dallas Mavericks vs. Memphis Grizzlies

1. The Western Conference Playoff Race
The Memphis Grizzlies have been on an incredible ride over the season.
When the year began, it seemed like Memphis would be on a traditional rebuilding year. Lots of losing, plenty of headaches, but there would be a little bit of hope for the future. Now though, Memphis is at a crossroads: do they keep on with a rebuild, or do you try to make the playoffs?
Right now, Memphis is in the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoff race, with the Portland Trail Blazers 2.5 games behind them. However, that gap may not be as wide as it seems.
Over their next three games, the Trail Blazers will face the San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz, and Miami Heat; all teams that Portland could have a chance at beating (they’ve beat two of the three before). Meanwhile, the Grizzlies will face the Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Washington Wizards over their next three games. Two of those are going to be tough to beat.
