Memphis Grizzlies: Three free agents to finish the rebuild
By Ethan Becker
The Memphis Grizzlies are close to building a team that could make a deep run in the playoffs. Could they find the final pieces in this year’s free agency?
With the 2019-2020 season being suspended indefinitely, we may never know how deep the Grizzlies could’ve gone in the playoffs. However, considering they were an eighth seed that would be going up against the first seed Los Angeles Lakers, they likely wouldn’t have gone too far.
But a quick playoff run wouldn’t have been bad for Memphis, and it wouldn’t have been due to a lack of talent either. Memphis is one of the most promising young squads in the league, and all they need to be able to make a deep playoff run could be a few more rotational pieces.
The downside to that is that the 2020 free agent pool is full of mostly rotation guys, with a few exceptions. During a normal free agency period, with a number of top-tier stars up for grabs, those rotation pieces might go unnoticed. Unfortunately for Memphis, this offseason, those players are going to be getting a major spotlight on them.
Still, if Memphis can pull just a few of those players, they could easily reach the next level. But who are some of the players that could help them reach that next step in the team development.
