Ranking the Memphis Grizzlies’ NBA Seeding Games
By AJ Salah
6. Boston Celtics, Aug 11
It’s natural for Grizzlies fans to carry a little extra disdain for the Boston Celtics franchise these days.
Because of an ill-advised reach for Jeff Green, Memphis owes Boston a first-round draft pick. Because of protection rollover, the obligation has hung over Memphis’ head for the last three years.
(But, if we can be results-oriented, getting Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr is a more-than-fair tradeoff)
The Celtics are one of the most-set teams coming into the seeding games. They’ll be very hard-pressed to catch Toronto – now healthy for the first time all year – for the 2nd seed, lessening their urgency.
Meanwhile, the teams behind them are all implosion risks. The Indiana Pacers have lost Victor Oladipo and Jeremy Lamb. The Miami Heat have the toughest schedule, and a crappy road record. The Philadelphia 76ers are even worse on the road, and are mired in an existential crisis.
We’re certainly not suggesting the Celtics are going to roll over here, but this game may not be as intense as some of those to come on this list.
