Memphis Grizzlies: Repicking recent first round picks

2015 Draft: Jarell Martin
I’ll go to my grave thinking Jarell Martin was a guy who could’ve worked out. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies 25th pick in the 2015 draft is a case of a player who suffered a couple of big injuries, and never had the same confidence that he had before.
Martin played just 27 games, splitting the rest between the G League and the IR, but in that time span he averaged 5.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game on just 14.1 minutes per game. At the height of his career, he was averaging 7.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.7 blocks per game on 22.8 minutes a game.
Sadly for the Grizzlies, he didn’t work out, and they missed out on a few other players who might have worked. Larry Nance Jr. was taken at 27, and he’s been a solid rotation guy across the league, and Montrezl Harrell was picked at 32, and his hard-nosed, defensive style would’ve fit great with Memphis’ system.
At the end of the day, I gotta stick with Martin though. You can’t predict injuries at a draft, and his numbers were really good for the role he was given. He just didn’t work out.
