2014 Draft: Jordan Adams

Memphis selected Jordan Adams with the 22nd pick in this draft and, because he’s showing up on a list like this, he never worked out.

The worst part about that is that Adams was followed by a bunch of guys who are household names around the league right now. Rodney Hood, Shabazz Napier, and Clint Capela were the three picks that followed Adams, and Kyle Anderson (a current Grizzly) was selected at 30 with Joe Harris being selection 33.

However, the biggest surprise of the 2014 draft, without a doubt, was Nikola Jokic, who was picked at 41. Now, of course, he wasn’t the Joker that we know and love today; but again, he had a lot of potential and Memphis had the system in place to help him prosper in a bench role, until his number would’ve been called.

That’s why I have to go with the Joker in this draft. Can you imagine Nikola Jokic now, except he was mentored by Marc Gasol? And he was brought up in the Grit-‘N-Grind system? He would almost certainly be the most physically dominant center in the league today, and could have been a major centerpiece in Memphis’ game.
