Loser: Jaren Jackson Jr.

Unfortunately, not everything was peachy in Orlando for the Grizzlies. Jaren Jackson Jr. really struggled in this game, getting 11 points but doing so on 2-11 shooting (both 3-point shots) and 5-7 shooting from the free throw line. He didn’t record a turnover, but he also didn’t record any assists and only got 3 rebounds. He fouled out of the game in the second half.

Jackson’s poor start to these scrimmage games, at least shooting wise, has been the focal point of many Grizzlies fans recently, as questions have started to arise about whether or not he’s worth the risk. However, these performances shouldn’t be taken too drastically, as before the scrimmages Jackson Jr.’s last game was on February 21st. After more than five months of not playing, and coming off of injury rehab, a slow start could be expected for Jackson Jr.

Still, Memphis should keep on eye on Jackson Jr.’s performances in these first few seeding games, and if he starts to show signs of struggles, they shouldn’t hesitate to utilize Gorgui Dieng, Brandon Clarke, or the recently acquired Anthony Tolliver.
