Loser: Anthony Tolliver

Memphis biggest hole, easily, is their depth of bigs. Jonas Valanciunas is an experienced veteran, and was phenomenal in this game, and Brandon Clarke is shaping up to be a potential future All-Star, but JJJ’s play is a bit shakey at the time, and it seems the play of Anthony Tolliver is following suit.

Tolliver, who the Grizzlies signed for the remainder of the season during the bubble signing period in late May, didn’t see any playing time in the Grizzlies first scrimmage, but in their second game he stood out with some pretty impressive stats.

However, in this game, Tolliver seemed to trip up. He recorded just 6 points on 2-10 shooting from the field and 2-8 shooting from 3-point range, he collected 4 rebounds, but recorded 0 assists, steals, and blocks with 1 turnover.

The Grizzlies seemed to catch on to Tolliver’s struggles however, as they only played him for about 16 minutes, which is the second lowest number for any player in double-digit minutes and the fifth lowest overall.

Tolliver’s struggles in this game are concerning, because if Tolliver and Jackson Jr. are struggling in the same game the Grizzlies are going to be in a rough spot for their post play. Hopefully, the bigs will be able to shake off the cobwebs and get back to top form soon.
