No. 12: The Sacramento Kings, 3.5 Games Back

Previous Standing: 11th

Current Record: 28-37

Most Recent Game: Loss vs. Spurs

The above picture, besides being exhibit A in why De’Aaron Fox made the right career move in not being a punter for the NFL, is a perfect example of how tough the game between the Kings and Spurs was yesterday. Likely overshadowed for Grizzlies fans by the upsetting loss yesterday, the game was settled by just nine points, and found the Spurs coming out on top.

While the Kings aren’t statistically out of the running quite yet, they’re the least likely team on this list to get to the postseason. The loss to the Spurs moved the Kings down to the 12th seed, and puts them in a tough position going forward.

Still, Sacramento is a relatively young team, and while youthful teams are susceptible to sustained streaks, they are just as capable of putting on a shocking performance and getting out of a rut. Still, their schedule is going to be no help, as the Kings will face the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans in two of their next three games.
