No. 10: The San Antonio Spurs, 3 Games Back

Previous Standing: 12

Current Record: 28-36

Most Recent Game: Win vs. Kings

The biggest (and final) mover on the list, in one game the Spurs took themselves from being the center of articles titled “What the Spurs missing the playoffs mean” to “Can the Spurs still make the playoffs”. The win, and the rocketing up the standings, surprised a lot of media members. A lot, but not all.

Popping up into the tenth seed gives the Spurs the bit of momentum that they need to get going in the bubble, and considering that they have one of the harder schedules in the bubble, they’ll need all the help that they can get to make it into the postseason.

Still, San Antonio gaining this win should give their fanbase cause for optimism, and picking up a tough win where all their players were tested is only going to help in their journey for the eighth seed. Facing Memphis, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Denver Nuggets in their next three games is going to be a challenge for the Spurs, but if they can snag one win out of those series and then beat the Pelicans when they face each other, there would be a chance that we would see the continuation of San Antonio’s playoff dominance.
