No. 3: The Spurs race for the playoffs

San Antonio is one of the most successful postseason teams in the history of the NBA. The Spurs are currently on a historic 22 year playoff streak, tied for the longest in the NBA history, and nearing the longest in all professional sports (29 straight appearances). Over those 22 years, they’ve made the Conference Finals 10 times and won them six times. In those six Finals appearances, the Spurs have won five.

Now, though, the Spurs are facing a threat to that historic streak, and they’re playing like their playoff life depends on it. While San Antonio struggled to stay relevant during the regular season, they look to be on a completely different level right now.

The toughness the Spurs showed during their game against the Kings showed some resiliency and determination that, frankly, they hadn’t shown during large parts of the regular season.

If the Spurs jump ahead of Memphis in their matchup today, they will fight with everything they have to keep that, and Memphis needs to be ready for it. The biggest key to winning this game is going to be consistency; the Grizzlies need to be able to score, defend, and play at a constantly high level to tire the Spurs out, or San Antonio could eek away with another win.
