No. 8: The Memphis Grizzlies, — —

Previous Standing: 8

Current Record: 32-35

Most Recent Game: Loss vs. Spurs

The Memphis Grizzlies have not gotten out to the start that they were hoping they’d get out to. First, losing Justise Winslow before any scrimmages take place, then losing their first two scrimmages, having a small bounce back win over Miami, then losing Tyus Jones for at least half the seeding games, and then dropping their first two seeding games against the Trail Blazers and Spurs respectively.

Luckily, Memphis had built up a 3.5 game lead going into the bubble they’ve been able to rely on thus far, but that lead is quickly depleting. In fact, if everything goes horribly wrong, Memphis could see themselves drop to the ninth seed as soon as Wednesday. For as much as tonight’s game is a must-win for the Pelicans, it’s just as important for the Grizzlies.

Still, once Memphis sees Jones return, there’s a chance that they will see a quick string of wins which may just give them the boost they need. If the Grizzlies can grab one or two big wins in the next few games, they may just solidify a trip to the postseason.
