Winners and Losers: Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs
By Ethan Becker
Winner: Grayson Allen
Grayson Allen falls under the Jaren Jackson Jr. category of players who seem to be turning their poor play around since the win over the Miami Heat. Allen did struggle in that game, and received a lot of negative attention for it on social media, but his blunders were covered up from standout performances by Ja Morant and Jonas Valanciunas.
In this game, Allen performed much better. He recorded 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 28 minutes against the Spurs. He was also shooting very well, knocking down five of his nine field goal attempts, which included hitting two of six 3-point attempts.
With Brooks seeming to struggle through these last few games, it could benefit Memphis to move Allen and De’Anthony Melton up further in the rotation, at least until Jones is able to return and help Memphis with scoring off the bench from the guard spot.
