Memphis Grizzlies: Point guards to target in free agency

The Memphis Grizzlies can bolster their depth at point guard on the 2020 NBA free agency market.

The Memphis Grizzlies have two young point guards, starter Ja Morant and backup Tyus Jones, locked in under contract until at least 2022. They also have combo guard De’Anthony Melton, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason but could be re-signed at a reasonable price.

Morant is the face of the franchise. He brings the all-around offensive game and has superstar potential. Jones is a very formidable backup point guard that any NBA team would be lucky to have.

Jones brings a poised and savvy attitude when he enters the game. Melton shows flashes of being a good defender. He struggles to stretch the floor on the offensive end, as he only shot 28 percent from 3-point range last season.

So where do the Grizzlies go from here with their point guard position? The Grizzlies can go look in free agency for either more scoring depth to go along with shooting. Or they find more defensive minded guards to add to their rotation.
