3. Elijah Hughes (Syracuse)

Elijah Hughes is a 6’6″ shooting guard weighing in at 230 pounds. Hughes led the ACC in scoring last season at Syracuse, averaging 19 points per game. He has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble and thrives in high-volume isolation and catch-and-shoot roles.

Hughes is a career 34 percent shooter from beyond the arc, but if he proves to be consistent with his shot he could be of some use for the Grizzlies off the bench.

Elijah Hughes is a scoring machine, but his lacking ability on defense could cause issues for the already struggling Grizzlies perimeter defense. There is no doubt that his scoring would make an impact, but should the Grizzlies gamble with the defensive aspect of his game with their only pick? If drafted, his offensive game wouldn’t be the question. It’s all about the defense.
