8. Eddie Jones

Eddie Jones is overshadowed for a three-time NBA All-Star and three-time All-Defensive Team pick who once led the league in steals.

His legacy is sometimes reduced to being the guy on the Los Angeles Lakers who was the shooting guard before Kobe Bryant took over, or the guy who helped Kobe get his footing in the league, or the guy who kept Kobe on the bench as a teenager.

Jones was a star in his own right, however. He earned those aforementioned accolades with the Lakers and Charlotte Hornets, and he was a key piece for the Miami Heat as they transitioned from the Alonzo Mourning era to the Dwyane Wade era.

Jones came to the Grizzlies in a 2005 trade that sent James Posey and Jason Williams to Miami. (Those two became crucial parts of the Heat’s 2006 championship team.) Jones helped the Grizzlies make the 2006 playoffs, averaging 11.8 points and 1.7 steals per game at 34 years old.

Midway through the next season, Memphis waived Jones and he returned to the Heat.
