De’Anthony Melton

De’Anthony Melton was a bigger addition than many NBA fans or even Memphis Grizzlies fans could imagine at the time.

Melton had shown signs of solid playmaking abilities and the potential of scoring at a high level in Phoenix, and he has only shown improvement.

The 22-year-old has averaged around 20 minutes per game each year since being drafted in 2018, so it’s easy to see improvement without having to use the per-36 numbers.

Since last season, Melton has improved his points per game from 7.6 to 9.1 while also improving his field goal percentage from 40.1% to 44.9%. He also has drastically improved his shot from behind the arc by a staggering 10% (28.6% to 38.6%).

The fact that he is having this amount of success, even in a solid backcourt room, just shows how underrated Melton really is. He’s certainly not the most appreciated basketball player, point guard, or even bench point guard on the team (Tyus Jones), yet he’s produced better than most this season.
