The Memphis Grizzlies set a handful of records on Sunday

What the bench unit accomplished on Sunday shouldn’t be undersold just because the Rockets are on an 11-game losing streak. The Grizzlies showed up to play and set new franchise records in Houston. They were out for blood on Sunday and proved it with a dominant win.

One of the records set by Memphis was a new bench scoring record. The Grizzlies second unit put up 85-points, outscoring the Houston Rockets’ entire team. This isn’t a horrible Rockets team either, with two star players in the rotation in John Wall and Eric Gordon.

But that wasn’t even the most impressive record set by this team. The most impressive record would be given to the entire squad as a hole, earning the largest margin of victory in the franchise’s history at 49 points. The next largest was over a decade and a half ago, so Taylor Jenkins’ team might be on to something this year.

The story of the Grizzlies low floor and high ceiling will continue, but for now, we can take solace in the fact that this team can flat-out play basketball when it wants to.
